Sydney boasts world's most expensive housing
Sydney has become the world's most unaffordable housing market, according to research by an Australian think-tank.-The housing is expensive but the returns are terrible. I bought my unit in May 2002. It is now about the same price value as it was when i bought it, but my home loan interest rate is at just under 10% Had my unit increased in value to match the interest rates, it would have doubled in value. The fact that it hasn't is almost entirely due to ALP mismanagement. So why weren't the claims of Rudd or Iemma examined by the free press prior to the last elections better? Possibly same as now.-ed.

France played 'active role in Rwanda genocide'
FRANCE played an active role in the 1994 Rwanda genocide, a report unveiled today by the Rwandan government said, naming French political and military officials it says should be prosecuted.

"French forces directly assassinated Tutsis and Hutus accused of hiding Tutsis... French forces committed several rapes on Tutsi survivors," said a justice ministry statement released after the report was presented in Kigali.

The 500-page report alleged that France was aware of preparations for the genocide, contributed to planning the massacres and actively took part in the killing.

It named former French prime minister Edouard Balladur, former foreign minister Alain Juppe and then-president Francois Mitterrand, who died in 1996, among 13 French politicians accused of playing a role in the massacres. -it is doubtful the left will ever take responsibility for their inactions.-ed.

Iran Executes Journalist on Terrorism Charges After Secret Trial
CAIRO, Egypt — An Iranian journalist sentenced to death on terrorism charges has been executed in what a human rights group on Tuesday called "state-sanctioned murder" after a secret trial.

Yaghoob Mirnehad was executed Monday in the city of Zahedan after being convicted and sentenced to death earlier this year, said Iran's judiciary spokesman, Ali Reza Jamshidi.

Iran accused Mirnehad of being involved in the armed Jundallah group, which operates along the Iranian-Pakistani border. Authorities said he set up a group to "cooperate" with Jundallah.

But a New York-based rights group, the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran, said Iranian prosecutors held a secret trial and provided no evidence of Mirnehad's links with Jundallah or involvement in any armed attacks.

In addition to writing for a Tehran-based daily newspaper, Mirnehad also ran a charity focused on improving childhood education in Iran. He was targeted because as part of that work, he had criticized local government officials and called for their resignations, the group said Tuesday.
