Hoosier Rag (1907)
by georgeptingley

There were around 900 published piano rags written by women in the early 1900's. Indiana was central to this activity with Julia Lee Niebergall being one of the most gifted writers. Additionally, it was widely known that she was one of the first women in Indianapolis to own and drive her own vehicle. Apparently, the right to play and compose ragtime as well as drive led finally to women's right to vote in 1920. Ms. Niebergall's charming piece, HOOSIER RAG (1907) is played here without embellishment, or as I like to think - without makeup. Look for more women's ragtime coming soon.

6. Ugly Pup Prophecies
by THE_SISCOM_GURU, Mystified and particledots
The metamorphosis of a song is always a fascinating process to me.
Never before have I really experienced such complex metamorphoses of songs until I started working with Bryn (bibanova).
Throughout many songs, our collaborations have both taught and amazed me at the same time.
(Thanks, B )

I'm posting this 'prototype'--an initial mix that I did to the Like Worshiped Chicago Dogs track.

The resulting collaboration was Ugly Dog Prophecies.

You'll be able to see the transformation that occurred from this initial track to the finished, posted track.

I think you'll agree that it's no less than amazing .

My inspiration for my vocal interpretation: This music was so mysterious, dark, compelling and visual! I imagined myself venturing into an ancient temple of stone and flickering, dim light, and hearing the voices of an ancient and lost people echoing through time and space...and future?

instrumental track: particledots
vocals/rough mix: Mystified

Beautiful Sunset
Gallo Del Cielo
by BossHook and Dylan

Dylan, troubadour verite that he is, started a tradition last year of doing a song send up for Cinco de Mayo. Some months ago we chatted
about trying a borderland story song written by troubadour tambien Tom Russell, covered by Joe Ely and others.

Once we got on our horses to ride this one in to the corral, it was great to again hang with Dylan as a friend and to join his troubadour journey in the spirit of Cinco de Mayo.

So here is our version of the storied rise and fall of Gallo Del Cielo. The legend of the dreams of Carlos Saragoza and his fighting rooster with the crazy eye.

Not a single electric guitar was harmed in the making of this story.

Dylan: Vocals, acoustic rhythm guitars, acoustic lead guitar, percussion, essence of troubadour.

BossHook: Vocals, acoustic rhythm guitars, acoustic lead guitar, percussion, key accordion, faders and Dylan fan.

Los huesos de Pancho Villa: A few drum loops.
