NSW Lib Updates

Rees Gave Us Desal, Tebbutt Gave Us Docs Inquiry, School Maintenance Backlog
Written by Jillian Skinner MP
The Labor Government’s ‘new’ leaders, Nathan Rees and Carmel Tebbutt, have already delivered families and businesses in NSW an expensive white elephant desalination plant, massive school maintenance backlog and a Department so dysfunctional it’s now the subject of an official inquiry, Deputy NSW Opposition Leader Jillian Skinner said today.

Same Trick - Community Has Lost Trust In State Labor
Written by Barry O'Farrell MP
The attempt to reinvent the leadership of State Labor Government with another inexperienced and relatively anonymous Minister will neither succeed, nor convince the public that NSW problems will be fixed, NSW Opposition Leader Barry O’Farrell said today.

“Three years after Morris Iemma became Premier promising a fresh start and to fix the problems, the public know NSW and their quality of life has worsened. We will hear the same rhetoric again today,” Mr O’Farrell said.

Iemma Must Demote Reba Meagher For Her Litany Of Failures
Written by Jillian Skinner MP
Morris Iemma must demote Reba Meagher in tomorrow’s cabinet reshuffle for her total mismanagement of the health portfolio, Shadow Minister for Health Jillian Skinner said today.

“If Morris Iemma needed further evidence of Reba Meagher’s incompetence, he can look no further than the disgraceful sacking of the Ambulance Rescue Service this week, that will likely result in officers taking industrial action,” Mrs Skinner said.

Nathan Rees Tipped As Premier in Waiting. He Should Be 'Tipped' From Frontbench
Written by Chris Hartcher MP
Official Sydney Catchment Authority figures today show dam levels in Sydney have hit 65.8% with more rain expected, giving Morris Iemma even more reason to sack Nathan Rees as his Minister for Water and hit ‘stop’ on his obsession with an expensive desalination plant, Shadow Minister for Water Utilities Chris Hartcher said today.

"The Minister for Water, Nathan Rees, is the biggest financial noose around NSW’s neck whilst he continually pushes along with his $2 billion desal plant,” Mr Hartcher said.

Incoming Transport Minister Has Their Work Cut Out
Written by Gladys Berejiklian MP
Shadow Minister for Transport Gladys Berejiklian said today the incoming Transport Minister will have a massive job on their hands after many years of Labor neglect in the transport portfolio.

“There is a long and growing list of issues the new Transport Minister will need to tackle,” Ms Berejiklian said.

Stop Sartor Steamrolling The Community
Written by Brad Hazzard MP
Heaven help NSW if Planning Minister Frank Sartor is given Health or another senior portfolio as he will again ride roughshod over local communities, as he did in demolishing NSW planning and heritage laws.

“Minister Sartor should hang his head in shame with the way he’s gone about changes to the planning system in NSW and should not be allowed at the helm of any sensitive or major portfolio,” Shadow Minister for Planning, Brad Hazzard said today.

Verity Firth - A Lame Duck On Climate Change and Environment
Written by Pru Goward MP
A failure to deal with e-waste, no ideas about the growing problems of plastic bags, threatened species legislation that effectively gags challenges to environmental decisions and no plan to encourage waste minimisation all reflect the dismal performance by Verity Firth, Shadow Minister for Climate Change and Environment Pru Goward said today.

"The Minister went empty handed to a joint Federal and State environment meeting in April this year and missed the chance to make sure NSW leads the charge in environment and climate change," Ms Goward said.

Ryde By-Election: A Chance For Families To Send A Message To The Iemma Government
Written by Barry O'Farrell MP
NSW Opposition Leader Barry O’Farrell said the impending State by-election in the electorate of Ryde was an opportunity for local families and businesses to send a message to the Iemma Government.

“While talking to residents and business owners in West Ryde today, I met people angry and frustrated about public transport, traffic congestion, conditions in hospitals and the taxes faced by small business operators,” Mr O’Farrell said.

Costa Has Guaranteed Hospital Projects: Meagher Should Stop Her Bullying Threats
Written by Jillian Skinner MP
Reba Meagher should stop threatening the Wagga Base Hospital redevelopment, and other health infrastructure projects because Treasurer Michael Costa has already guaranteed they will be funded, Shadow Minister for Health Jillian Skinner said today.

The Wagga Wagga Hospital Redevelopment is one of 72 projects listed (attached) in the State Infrastructure Strategy released earlier this year.
