UPDATE. Maybe Abdul should have sought to be tried in a different jurisdiction:
Islamic law has been officially adopted in Britain, with sharia courts given powers to rule on Muslim civil cases.

Only one month to go until state Labor’s day of doom:
NSW Labor is bracing itself for a thrashing at next month’s string of by-elections with secret polling showing it may even lose the seat of ex-premier Morris Iemma—the safest in the state.

Despite losing councillors in virtually every local government area over the weekend, with swings of up to 20 per cent against them in some areas, Labor strategists fear this is just the tip of the iceberg and the public will really punish the party on October 18, in the three Sydney by-elections.

Journalism is difficult to revolutionise. The means of delivery may change—from drawings on rocks to ink on paper to words on a screen—but the basic elements remain the same.

These elements are, more or less: discover the interesting information; check that it’s true (even the caveman recording that day’s hunt probably sent out a cave cadet to make certain bison have four legs); and then publish it.

Journalism is so easy that even we journalists can do it.

But this week saw a revolution in Australian journalism that will make things even easier. That formerly time-consuming second step—the checking phase—has been eliminated.
