GROCERY PRICES SLIGHTLY DOWN ACROSS THE STATE.

Two Brisbane supermarkets 20 kilometres apart have the lowest and highest basket of goods in the latest ShopSmart survey, Senator Sue Boyce, Senator for Queensland, said today.

“Coles at Toombul had the cheapest basket of goods at $64.31 and Coles at Upper Mount Gravatt was the most expensive at $69, costing more than Brisbane CBD stores.

“The average basket of goods across Queensland has gone down slightly since last month, decreasing by $1.65 or two and a half percent. Even the Torres Strait had a small reduction in their cost of groceries.

“Coles supermarkets have lead the ShopSmart survey for the last five months having the most expensive basket of goods, but this time they also have the lowest basket.

“It highlights that consumers need to shop around to get the best value for money,” Senator Boyce said.
