Time that Jones' comment be seen for what it is. The sad and bad truth.
from Andrew Bolt ..
Die of shame
Those who were there and are quoted in the article deny hearing any such comment, but if it was indeed said it was very cruel, very wrong:
There are calls for a boycott of radio station 2GB over remarks by Sydney broadcaster Alan Jones that the Prime Minister’s father, John Gillard, had “died of shame”.The talkback host told a packed room of Liberal Party members: “Every person in the caucus of the Labor Party knows that Julia Gillard is a liar, everybody. I will come to that in a moment. The old man recently died a few weeks ago of shame. To think that he has a daughter who told lies every time she stood for Parliament.”
UPDATE
No, the tape confirms it. The remark is shameful. I wish the few Young Liberals who laughed in apparent surprise or scorn had booed or otherwise protested instead.
Alan Jones is a colleague, and I’ve long valued his courage. But this is very wrong.

her lie that the Pacific Solution wasn't the most effective policy
That is not a “lie” – it’s an opinion. You have a basic problem with English comprehension.
Her 'opinion' not based on observable truths. It is misleading, and so a lie. She was lying about having a better solution when the Pacific Solution was first in place. She didn't have a better solution. She is lying now about the Pacific Solution not being workable now. And people are dying for her lies. They are also strongly held opinions. There are those who believe that opinions cannot be called lies. It is her opinion which she may sincerely hold, but when she speaks at odds with observable facts she is not expressing her opinion, but lying about her position.
