GROCERY PRICES STAY THE SAME. - QLD

Regional Queensland had the lowest and highest basket of goods in the latest ShopSmart survey, Senator Sue Boyce, Senator for Queensland, said today.

“Woolworths in Cairns had the cheapest basket of goods at $63.50 and Woolworths at Gladstone was the most expensive at $70.17, costing more than Brisbane CBD stores.

“The average basket of goods across the state has gone up slightly since last month, increasing by $0.50. The Torres Strait had a small increase in their cost of groceries.

“Woolworths, this month had the lowest and the most expensive basket of goods, last month it was Coles. It just shows that customers need to be savvy when they go shopping for groceries.

“When the Choice website gets online I hope that that the millions of dollars the Rudd Government spent on it will offer consumers some real information, or will this be yet another failure of the Labor Government,” Senator Boyce said.
