William Cowper (pronounced /ˈkuːpər/ "Cooper"; 26 November 1731 -- 25 April 1800) was an English poet and hymnodist. One of the most popular poets of his time, Cowper changed the direction of 18th century nature poetry by writing of everyday life and scenes of the English countryside. In many ways, he was one of the forerunners of Romantic poetry. Samuel Taylor Coleridge called him "the best modern poet", whilst William Wordsworth particularly admired his poem Yardley-Oak. He was a nephew of the poet Judith Madan.
- God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm. - Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs
And works His sov’reign will. - Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessings on your head. - Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face. - His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flow’r. - Blind unbelief is sure to err
And scan His work in vain;
God is His own interpreter,
And He will make it plain.

A picture of Jewish children in the Polish ghetto of Łódź after 1938, they were sent to extermination camps, is compared with children separated from illegal migrants. Only the image does not compare with the fantasy. Today's illegal immigrants could have gone home as a family, less the cash they gave people smugglers. The Jews had no choice. The US government has world best practice for welfare of detainees, including children. Meanwhile Nazi handling of Jews documented their butchery. But meme states "Children waving goodbye to their parents in Łódź. Not so different than the thousands of children Trump is now stealing from their parents in the US."
Another picture states there is no racism in Islam. Which is true regarding decent, faithful Islamic peoples. However, extremist Islamic terrorists also kill and maim indiscriminately. Discrimination is not the issue.
Cory Booker is one of thirteen Democrats who voted against US peoples getting cheaper drugs from Canada. Yet, over the last six years he has accepted $267k in donations from pharmaceutical companies.
Via HT "As the election is looming, with plenty of hi-vis vests and hard hats, hand shaking and baby kissing, empty slogans and broken promises, take a moment to reflect why we keep electing the same mobs to run our lives.
"Do not blame Caesar, blame the people of Rome who have so enthusiastically acclaimed and adored him and rejoiced in their loss of freedom and danced in his path and gave him triumphal processions. Blame the people who hail him when he speaks in the Forum of the 'new, wonderful good society' which shall now be Rome, interpreted to mean 'more money, more ease, more security, more living fatly at the expense of the industrious.'" - Marcus Tullius Cicero"
update the quote, although apt, is not from Cicero but attributed to him in 1965
This is something Clinton and Obama approved in office. There is a heartwarming alternative where the family goes home. Ending the human trade market should be a priority for those caring about welfare, imho.
In 618, Li Yuan became Emperor Gaozu of Tang, initiating three centuries of Tang Dynasty rule over China. 1053, Battle of Civitate: Three thousand horsemen of Norman Count Humphrey routed the troops of Pope Leo IX. The Normans had come to Italy to fight Saracens and they were good at fighting, but enraged the local Italians. Eventually, the Normans became less Viking, and more French, Italian and English. Norman Christians became devout, and reclaimed Antioch in what was then called the Levant in modern day Israel. 1178, five Canterbury monks saw what is possibly the Giordano Bruno crater being formed. It is believed that the current oscillations of the Moon's distance from the Earth (in the order of meters) were a result of this collision. It is debated as to wether the monks saw an impact crater or something atmospheric. Until we can inspect the crater more closely, all we can say is it is less than 250 million years old. 1264, the Parliament of Ireland met at Castledermot in County Kildare, the first definitively known meeting of this Irish legislature. 1429, French forces under the leadership of Joan of Arc defeated the main English army under Sir John Fastolf at the Battle of Patay. In 1633, Charles I, was crowned King of Scots at St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh 1684, the charter of the Massachusetts Bay Colony was revoked via a scire facias writ issued by an English court. For some, at the moment, the Sex Party has more credibility.
On this day in 1873, Susan B Anthony was fined $100 for voting. In 1940, Churchill spoke of Britain's finest hour. William Joyce was charged with treason in 1945, some argue that that was not fair, as he wasn't English. He had supported the Nazis and instrumentally was involved in the deaths of many freedom fighters. In 1858, Charles Darwin got a paper that convinced him to publish his theory of evolution. In 1053, the then Pope lost a battle, although it might have been argued truth was still on his side. But, in 1429, English man John Falstaff lost a battle against forces led by Joan of Arc. Eventually, she was burned at the stake for her achievement. That, is deeply symbolic.

Anthony was fined $100 for attempting to vote in the 1872 presidential election. 1887, the Reinsurance Treaty between Germany and Russia was signed.

I am a decent man and don't care for the abuse given me. I created a video raising awareness of anti police feeling among western communities. I chose the senseless killing of Nicola Cotton, a Louisiana policewoman who joined post Katrina, to highlight the issue. I did this in order to get an income after having been illegally blacklisted from work in NSW for being a whistleblower. I have not done anything wrong. Local council appointees refused to endorse my work, so I did it for free. Youtube's Adsence refused to allow me to profit from their marketing it. Meanwhile, I am hostage to abysmal political leadership and hopeless journalists. My shopfront has opened on Facebook.

I am publishing a book called Bread of Life: January.
Bread of Life is a daily bible quote with a layman's understanding of the meaning. I give one quote for each day, and also a series of personal stories illustrating key concepts eg Who is God? What is a miracle? Why is there tragedy?
January is the first of the anticipated year-long work of thirteen books. One for each month and the whole year. It costs to publish. It (Kindle version) should retail at about $2US online, but the paperback version would cost more, according to production cost.If you have a heart for giving, I fundraise at gofund.me/27tkwuc (Gofundme finished the fund raiser, 2017)
