US Campaign for Burma Suu Kyi's Birthday

Celebrate Aung San Suu Kyi's Birthday by Helping Political Prisoners

June 19th is Aung San Suu Kyi's 66th Birthday. We are glad that the work of our members has paid off and she will now spend her birthday free for the first time in 7 1/2 years!

Every year around her birthday, we have asked our supporters to host an Arrest Yourself event, to show solidarity with her unjust detention. Even though Aung San Suu Kyi is now free, she is still pushing strongly for the release of more than 2,000 political prisoners locked away. She has said "the release of all political prisoners is the most important thing for all those who wish to bring about change in Burma."

Will you honor Aung San Suu Kyi on her birthday by spreading her message about political prisoners to your friends and family? Help us celebrate her freedom while working to secure the freedom of 2000 brave men and women just like her.Pledge to host an event today to carry on this successful tradition.

For this occasion, we ask people to invite friends and family to their home for an evening highlighting the situation in Burma. We will mail you a package to help you with your event, including a copy of the new film "Into the Current" about Burma's courageous political prisoners. Using footage secretly shot in Burma, the film uncovers the stories and sacrifices of ‘ordinary’ people of exceptional courage, and the leaders who inspire them.

We need your help. It's getting closer to June 19th, so sign up TODAY! Your event doesn't have to be a solemn occasion, it can also be a celebration. In the past, Arrest Yourself parties have been great community events that really helped engage new people.

More people are signing up around the world! Be a part of this this important occasion and pledge to host an event. Your efforts will help U.S. Campaign for Burma continue our work.

In Solidarity,

Myra
