CALL YOUR SENATORS FOR THE RENEWAL OF SANCTIONS AGAINST BURMA'S REGIME

,

Please call your Senators and ask them to cosponsor the renewal of sanctions against Burma's regime before they expire this summer. Click here for detailed instructions.

Presently five Senators have agreed to cosponsor the renewal! We need to keep the momentum going, emails will not be enough, we need you to call your Senators.

The Burmese Freedom and Democracy Act denies hundreds of millions of American dollars from getting into the hands of the Burmese junta and its cronies. Now more than ever, Aung San Suu Kyi and the pro-democracy movement need our help to sustain strong U.S. pressure on the regime.

IMPORTANT!!!
Senators Menendez and Lautenberg have cosponsored the renewal of Burma sanctions in previous years. The staffer you talk to may not know that, so it is important to tell them. Ask the Senators to continue their support for Aung San Suu Kyi and the struggle for democracy and human rights in Burma by again cosponsoring the renewal of the Burmese Freedom and Democracy Act (S.J.RES. 17).

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS:
A. Call your Senators' office Today.
Victoria Woodbury handles foreign affairs for Senator Menendez at: (202) 224-4744.
Andrea Friedman handles foreign affairs for Senator Lautenberg at: (202) 224-3224.

B. Ask to speak to the foreign affairs staffer, Victoria Woodbury (Menendez) or Andrea Friedman (Lautenberg).
Whether you are speaking with the staffer or leaving a message, make 2 things very clear:
1) You are a constituent of theirs who supports freedom and democracy in Burma.
2) Feel it is important to support Aung San Suu Kyi and the people of Burma. I urge the Senator to co-sponsor S.J.RES. 17--a bill renewing the Burmese Freedom and Democracy Act.

C. Let us at USCB know how it went. Email myradah@uscampaignforburma.org.
