His brother Jack and Sister Joan survive him. The depression years lead into World War 2, and Sam was raised in the turmoil of the times. His father was a soldier and a gambler who involved the family in debt to organized crime. His mother fled, taking his sister and an inheritance from his grandfather to rebuild their lives. While his older brother struggled to become one of Australia's leading businessmen of his generation, Samuel pursued Education.

He died of a heart attack at a good age. He had gone to play bridge, (a game he adored) at a club. He was sick in his later years, but he always retained his quick intelligence, his humor to the very end.

A lovely song, the lyric composed by a 13 yo boy, known as revive, and the music made by an extraordinary muso named Euphoria.
