My Christian brothers and sisters have been wrong, will be wrong and are wrong. Often. Some can be reasoned with. But in argument terms that isn't the issue here. The argument employed scans to the ignorant eye. A person who knew little, might feel it is balanced and Israel may in fact bear some responsibility. The truth is simple, that Israel is exemplary as a modern democratic nation deserving a prosperous future. But the lie excusing the atrocities committed by generations of terrorists is tempting to the ignorant because the alternative is that the ignorant have been complicit. And they have been. Ignorant people are responsible for terrorist activity. Including the Christians who become victims and some left wing Jews .. ed===

Apparently, the Obama Administration has formally positioned a policy, of that which advocates for, and on behalf of, Tehran's nuclear initiatives.
"We need to set about the critical task of proving to the world what Iran has said many times -- that its program is in fact peaceful," U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said early Sunday in Geneva.
"Kerry said the initial agreement creates "time and space" to allow Iran to demonstrate its peaceful intentions. But he also said that the agreement "will make our partners in the region safer." - CNN Breaking News

Kerry isn't Neville Chamberlain. Chamberlain was a conservative who chose a path of least resistance because he didn't anticipate evil. Kerry is duplicitous. Kerry supports a socialist ideal. Israel doesn't fit in that ideal. - ed===

The sad fact is some parents aren't fit to be parents. Instead of being sensitive, they should attend to the needs of their children, or risk losing them. Instead, the teacher is beaten up .. the school is gutless. If the teacher was wiser, they would have reported the children to DOCS as being possible abuse cases. My first day as a teacher at James Meehan HS .. it was a school where the killers of Janine Balding and Anita Cobby had gone to school. Large Aboriginal community .. we were instructed not to punish kids for not being in uniform, but to refer them to the office. Uniform was viewed as being important to the school. So the school would have spares for kids that couldn't afford them, without embarrassing them or their parents. But a year 7 boy knew the system. I told him in roll call to go to the office for a uniform. He stepped on another child in order to leave the class, chewing gum. .. two periods later a welfare teacher for aboriginal students invaded my year 11 class demanding to know why I'd sent the child home. They told me I had no right to. The kid was white skinned and red haired. I had had no idea he wasAboriginal .. and hadn't sent him home. This article touches a nerve for me .. - ed===

My view is as an outsider, but is well meant. It is hard to judge the progress of others. There needs to be a culture which allows people to grow and make mistakes .. and still be part of the culture. People aren't born to be adult .. they grow into it. I despise the US style of upbringing which values bad behaviour. But, I come from it. Why do I recognise the failings of my upbringing when others don't? I needed to see what was possible. I needed the example of those good people. But I also need to see what doesn't work. Those bad people who provide the bad example are also good for showing the young what not to do. I thank Princess Diana and Prince Charles for showing me what I don't want to aspire to. I thank JFK for being an abysmal failure. .. and I thank, love, and wish to uphold people like Yonatan Netanyahu. It would be better if schooling was good. But it isn't the only path. - ed===

Just beautiful - both the synagogue and the singing!
This is the Sephardic Synagogue in Amsterdam . It is lit entirely by candles. It was built several hundred years ago and was never "electrified". The ark, seats, Bimah etc. are all hand-made by ship builders. During WW II the Nazi's somehow missed it and never entered it so it is entirely intact and original. It is a real beauty. This concert was performed in the sanctuary and is very "rousing".

Sunset at the Arch Rock
The end of the Big Sur workshop with theAperture Academy found us documenting a brilliant sunset under clear Californian skies with a nice low tide. The waves that splashed through the opening of the rock caught the orange of the sun and all the water droplets glowed. It was great seeing our participants getting awesome results. I was too busy helping to try for that shot so I just set my camera up and let it take a few 30 second long exposures while I did my job. Thank goodness for the built in intervalometer in the Nikon D7100. I greatly look forward to teaching again with my pal Jean Day. It was a fantastic time! — at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park.
