Election staff in Pittsburgh’s Allegheny County, one of Pennsylvania’s most populous areas, reportedly are taking the day off Thursday, despite the fate of the presidential election hanging in the balance with more than 35,000 ballots left to tabulate.
“They aren’t counting any ballots today! They stopped last night and are taking the day off,” Bethany Hallam, an Allegheny County councilperson, wrote on Twitter.
Hallam told New York Times reporter Trip Gabriel, “I can’t get an answer as to why.”
Pennsylvania’s slow counting of absentee ballots has kept the presidential race in limbo. President Trump leads by more than 135,000 votes in the state, but mail-in ballots are breaking for Democratic candidate Joe Biden. (More at link)

The Oregon National Guard was called into the city of Portland after protests in the city turned violent Wednesday night, police said.
Local authorities declared a riot after groups of demonstrators destroyed property in the downtown section of the city, which the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office described as “widespread violence.”
“In the interest of public safety, Governor Kate Brown, under the advice of the Unified Command, has activated the use of the Oregon National Guard to assist local law enforcement,” the agency said in a tweet.
“Guard members are trained in crowd control and will be riding with local response teams. They are dressed in military-style garb, which is their uniform,” they added. (More at link)

Boockvar, who previously served as senior election modernization adviser to the critical swing state’s Governor, now heads Pennsylvania’s Department of State. The Arizona Republican Party is demanding Fox News retract the “rash call” that Joe Biden (D) has won the state. The demand coincides with Trump senior campaign adviser Jason Miller reiterating his belief that President Trump will win the Grand Canyon State.
“We’re calling on @FoxNews to retract its early and rash call that Biden has won AZ,” the Arizona GOP said Wednesday evening. The AZ GOP based its call the GOP’s purported edge in the hundreds of thousands of outstanding uncounted ballots. (More at link)

As of Wednesday, Democrats had flipped GOP Senate seats in Colorado and Arizona and lost one in Alabama, for a net gain of only one seat. Republican Maine Sen. Susan Collins pulled through in what many thought would be a close race, as did Republican Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst, while Republican North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis appears likely to narrowly hold his seat as well.
Carlson pointed to proposals like court-packing, abolishing the filibuster, legalizing illegal immigrants, and adding states as methods the left would have used, with a Senate majority, to obtain “total control over everything.” (More at link)

Danielle D'Souza Gill@ danielledsouzagill·We can easily resolve voter fraud if people vote based on their social security number. This idea that people don’t need a valid ID to vote, and ballots are showing up in the mail that were not requested by the voter is a recipe for fraud.

The issue isn’t our capability to catch fraud, it’s the fact that half the country is not willing to enforce election integrity bc it helps them.
