Ferguson defies Rudd’s control
Andrew Bolt
Martin Ferguson seems determined to be rational - and be also his own man in a government run by a risk-averse control freak -Bolt seems very determined to portray elements of the ALP as responsible. And elements of the ALP are responsible, but the organization is not.-ed.

Bless him for he’s black
Andrew Bolt
Rodd Liddle gags on the Obama-the-Lightworker hysteria:
I’M not sure how I’d feel if I were a black man watching Barack Obama win the Democratic presidential nomination and reading the eulogies pouring in from whitey. Obama’s victory has been cheered much as one might cheer a labrador that can balance rich tea biscuits on its nose and with that slightly sickly tone you get from news reports of the Paralympic Games. Oh, didn’t he do well. And he’s, you know, black. Bless him.

Burma betrayed, Buruma dismayed
Andrew Bolt
Ian Buruma is dragged out of his comfort zone:

WHY are French, British and US warships, but not Chinese or Malaysian warships, sitting near the Burmese coast loaded with food and other necessities for the victims of Cyclone Nargis? Why has the Association of South East Asian Nations been so slow and weak in its response to a natural calamity that ravaged one of its own members?

Della boffed
Andrew Bolt
Getting uglier for Labor’s charming couple:

NIGHTCLUB staff are standing by their claims Education Minister John Della Bosca and his federal MP wife were drunk, abusive and threatening during a night on the town - even though the club manager has withdrawn the allegations.

While Mr Della Bosca and Belinda Neal denied the claims and the general manager of Iguana’s Waterfront Bar issued a retraction yesterday, three of the six staff who signed legally binding statutory declarations refused to back down…

It has also emerged that Iguana’s apology was prompted by threats of legal action made by Mr Della Bosca during a phone conference with the club’s management.
From Ben
I am a high school teacher with 17 years experience of teaching Mathematics. I was being harassed because I embarrassed some superiors over a bungled pedophile investigation 13 years ago.
My harassers compounded their problems when they negligently allowed their abuse of me to allow, through neglect, a boy to die.
The cause of the death has been covered up by Education department and authorities. My harassment continued.
I approached Della Bosca to put a stop to my harassment as soon as he was made minister in 2007. I told him of those whom I knew to be involved, and those whom I suspected. I don't know the extent of it, but I know it goes to Iemma's office.
Della Bosca dismissed my complaint, and I felt compelled to resign. I referred the matter to Della Bosca again, post resignation, and he referred me back to one of my named abusers.
I am now without a job, income for almost a year. I have no legal avenue for appeal. I have involved the police, and anti corruption bodies. They have done nothing.

What more could a carbon tax do?
Andrew Bolt
If this doesn’t slash emissions from cars, will Kevin Rudd’s planned carbon tax on petrol do much more than raise taxes?

Oil prices recorded their biggest one-day advance to hit a record of more than $139 a barrel on Friday...

FuelWatch: Rudd can’t do what he shouldn’t
Andrew Bolt
The Rudd Government seems in for another embarrassment over its FuelWatch fiasco. It is relying on its corporations power over constitional corporations to force retailers to fix their prices for 24 hours at a time. But Tom Hughes QC says the Opposition is right - this power cannot be used to regulate unincorporated bodies - like the many independent retailers

Cop allowed 13-year-old daughter to marry
By Tara Ravens
A 13-YEAR-old Aboriginal girl had to have her dead baby removed from her womb and contracted three sexually transmitted diseases after her police officer father allowed her to marry a 19-year-old man.

Northern Territory Opposition Leader Terry Mills has called for the Aboriginal Community Police Officer (ACPO) to be sacked, saying the man had "stood by while the law was broken in his own home".

During sentencing of the girl's husband in March on three charges of having sex with a minor, NT Chief justice Brian Martin said she had "freely entered" into the traditional marriage.

The girl became pregnant in September 2006 but the fetus died in the womb and the girl had to have surgery to remove it.

She also tested positive to three sexually transmitted infections.

"The consequences for this child are a graphic illustration of the dangers associated with young children having sexual intercourse with men like you," Chief Justice Martin told the husband at the time.

But he said the relationship was approved by the couple's parents, with the ACPO allowing the young man to sleep with the girl in the family home.

UN honors Burma’s murderous junta
Andrew Bolt
The United Nations goes from farce to far worse:

The General Assembly of the United Nations voted this week to elect Miguel d’Escoto Brockmann as its new president. Readers with a long memory will recall Father D’Escoto (he’s a Catholic priest) as Nicaragua’s foreign minister during the Sandinista regime of the 1980s. He’s also the winner of the 1985 Lenin Prize. Only at the U.N. does that count as a recommendation.

The U.N. also voted to name the government of Burma – which otherwise has been busy preventing humanitarian assistance from reaching hundreds of thousands of its own needy victims of last month’s devastating cyclone – as one of the Assembly’s vice presidents. Only at the U.N. is this not considered an embarrassment.
