Before September comes around, we want to join in planting thousands of more trees in Israel! In December, parts of Israel were hit with a massive blizzard. As beautiful and majestic as the snow was, over 10,000 trees were lost by severe icing conditions. We believe that those trees must be replaced. Tree-planting is an ancient Jewish tradition. The Talmudic rabbi Yohanan ben Zakai used to say that if a person planting a tree heard that the Messiah had arrived, he should finish planting before going to greet him. With over 240 million planted trees, Israel is one of only two countries that entered the 21st century with a net gain in the number of trees! We are proud of Israel and we want to ensure that all the lost trees be replaced!
