BECAUSE HE LIVES,I CAN FACE TOMORROW.
For most people, a new year brings two ideas of what the year might hold.But today I have good news. God has designed a full year of new dreams for you, fresh possibilities and unseen potential. I want to give you one word that can change the course of your life. Today, I want you to say this out loud: I can.
You can see your long-standing dream fulfilled. You can overcome that obstacle. You can climb to new heights. You can realize your destiny. I’m not talking about bragging in your own abilities, and I’m not talking about merely a self-help technique. I’m talking about knowing who you are in Christ and trusting what He says in His Word is true. Philippians 4:13 says: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. As a child of the Most High God, “I can” is your promise. As a believer in Christ, you have the Spirit of the Living God inside of you. There is an “I can” in your future.
When the Apostle Paul wrote, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, he wasn’t in a church or a fancy cathedral. He wrote one of the boldest, most encouraging promises in Scripture from a jail cell. Paul chose to declare, “Through Christ, yes, I can.” So,turn your I can't into an “I CAN!” in 2014? God bless you.

 If God’s objective for every believer is to transform us into total Christlikeness, then the objective of preaching is to motivate people to develop Christlike convictions (to think like Jesus), Christlike character (to feel like Jesus), and Christlike conduct (to act like Jesus). Every other objective of preaching is secondary. At the end of the sermon, if people aren’t being transformed in how they think, feel, and act, I’ve missed the mark as a preacher.
To put it another way, the ultimate goal of preaching is not information. In fact, giving people a greater knowledge of the Bible can cause pride to develop in our hearers rather than humility if that information isn’t translated into obedience. And the goal if preaching is not merely instruction either. Preaching certainly includes instruction, but there is more to preaching that mere behavior modification. The goal of well-rounded preaching is transformation and obedience. |
