I think it important that many Ministers are calling for no Palestinian state now and such demands are making headlines. Little by little we will change the discourse. Ted Belman

INN

Housing Minister Uri Ariel reacted to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’s Thursday speech at the United Nations’ General Assembly by saying, ”Israel will continue to build anywhere in the state of Israel. In the Galilee, the Negev, Judea, Samaria (Shomron) and Jerusalem. Mahmoud Abbas is not the one to dictate to us how to behave in our capital city.”
Responding to Abbas’s call on the world to stop Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria, Ariel added, “”Whoever thinks that you can change the reality on the ground is hallucinating. We will continue and strengthen Jewish settlement. West of the Jordan there will be only one country, the state of Israel.”

Unfortunately Israel is ruled by men and women like Tsipi Livni, who dress like Hilary Clinton, old-fashioned feminists who try to think like men.  It's all these men and faux men who have gotten us into dangerous situations.

Even in Biblical times, the women had to instruct our leaders on what to do.  Think about how the Matriarch Sarah was the one to tell Abraham that his first son Ishmael had to be banished, because not only wasn't he suited to inherit leadership, but he was a dangerously bad example for their son Isaac. And G-d confirmed that Sarah was correct.  Even when Tamar seduced her father-in-law Judah, which on the surface seems immoral, it ended up being the right thing to do.  Later on the five daughters of Tzlofchad had to instruct Moses about Land inheritance when there isn't a son, and again, G-d confirmed that they were correct. And during the dangerous anarchist time of Judges, again, women, Ruth, Naomi and Chana had to take charge to save the Jewish People.

That looks like a parody headline but it's the entirely serious title of a New York Times article by Eric Schmitt. Some details: John Kerry and Ahmet Davutoğluannounced today at a meeting of the Global Counterterrorism Forum
the creation of a $200 million fund [over a ten-year period] to combat violent extremism by undercutting the ideological and recruiting appeal of jihadists in places like Somalia, Yemen and Pakistan. …
The new fund, formally called the Global Fund for Community Engagement and Resilience, will for the first time combine financing from both government and nongovernment entities to identify credible local organizations; develop, monitor and evaluate programs; and channel funds to local projects that target groups and individuals vulnerable to appeals from terrorist groups. It is expected to be operational by mid-2014, officials said. …
Grants from the fund would provide vocational training to youths at risk of being recruited by terrorist organizations; new school curriculums that teach tolerance and problem solving; and Web sites and social networks to educate youth about the dangers of violent extremist ideologies.
So, Washington will partner with the government of Turkey, arguably the most consequential Islamist organization in the world after the Islamic Republic of Iran, to combat the radicalization of Muslim youth. Put differently, American taxpayer dollars will help members of a non-violent extremist ideology to educate youth "about the dangers of violent extremist ideologies.".
To make matters worse:

Plant biologist Shimon Gepstein did not set out to find a revolutionary technology that has been successfully producing drought-resistant rice, wheat, sugar beets, cotton, millet and other food crops in several countries.
He and his staff were tinkering with the “juvenile” plant hormone cytokinin to see if they could grow tobacco with a longer growth period and shelf life. The experiments worked beautifully — and then they neglected to water the genetically engineered plants for a few weeks. Surprisingly, after being re-watered they bounced back to life.

The genetically engineered tobacco plants in Gepstein’s study survived not being watered for a few weeks.

The Israeli government has urged the world to avoid striking a "partial deal" with Iran which would see a relaxing of sanctions, just hours before a new round of nuclear talks are set to begin between Iran and the so-called P5+1 group.
Following a meeting late on Monday, the security cabinet issued a unanimous statement warning the international community against any "partial agreement that would fail to bring about the full dismantling of the Iranian military nuclear program... (which) could lead to the collapse of the sanctions regime.

Anti-Israel sentiment on British campuses is nothing new.
Radical anti-Israel speakers and campaigners feature on a regular basis at many universities, so the appearance of George Galloway, an opponent of Israel so determined to attack the Jewish state that he recently blamed it for the gas attack on Syrian civilians in a Damascus suburb in August, would hardly have turned any heads.
But the UK's most famous anti-Israel Member of Parliament got a little more he bargained for at a debate at the prestigious Oxford University.

Since 1997 Yehuda has grazed 200 cattle in the Galil on 500 acres of land leased from the Israel Land Authority (ILA). 10 years ago people from the neighbouring village of Dir al Maksor started to tear down his fences and graze their flocks on his land. After 200 complaints to the Police, who dismissed them as not in the public interest, Yehuda went to court in 2009 to try to put a halt to this phenomena. The villages claimed the ILA wouldn't lease them land so they had to take someone else's. In the ILA's defence the ILA showed that in the past, the defendants had refused to pay for the land they leased so the ILA black listed them.  In 2011 the Judge handed down an interim order to apportion 50 acres of Yehuda's land in favor of the defendants, with Yehuda having to continue to pay the ILA for the whole amount. No date has been set for a final ruling on the case. Understanding that leasing State Land for grazing protects the land against fires and the illegal takeover of the land, Regavim has taken on this case. In parallel, Regavim has drafted legislation ensuring land intrusion is a serious enough crime to be taken seriously by the police.

We, the members of his community in the Old City of Jerusalem, thought we knew Gershon Burd. The men at the yeshiva where he worked full time and learned Torah full time thought they knew Gershon. Batya, his wife of ten years and the mother of his five children, thought she knew Gershon.
Only after Gershon drowned in the Mediterranean on his 40th birthday, October 4, did the truth, or tantalizing glimpses of the truth, start to emerge.

The lull in the chemical weapon crisis offers a chance to divert attention to the huge flow of refugees leaving Syria and rethink some misguided assumptions about their future.
About one-tenth of Syria's 22 million residents have fled across an international border, mostly to neighboring Lebanon, Jordan, and Turkey. Unable to cope, their governments are restricting entry, prompting international concern about the Syrians' plight. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, António Guterres, suggests that his agency (as the Guardian paraphrases him) "look to resettle tens of thousands of Syrian refugees in countries better able to afford to host them," recalling the post-2003 Iraqi resettlement program, when 100,000 Iraqis resettled in the West. Others also look instinctively to the West for a solution; the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, for example, has called on Western states "to do more" for Syrian refugees.

An Israeli soldier, a young, wonderful and smiling Jew, was abducted and executed in Qalqilya by despicable Arabs. Monsters wanted to use thebody of that Jew to release another monster jailed in Israel.
During th first Intifada, Arab terrorists from Qalqilya burned Ofra Moses and her small children to death. It was not different from a pogrom.
And it was nothing new. In the years following the creation of the State of Israel, the town of Qalkilya was one of the worst vipers’ nests of Arab genocidal passions.

Is it because there are verses in the Qu'ran that can be, and have been, used to justify violence against non-Muslims? If this is the situation, then it is time for us to lift our heads out of the sand, and understand that the enemy is within.
The past week has been bloodier than usual in the Muslim world. Three major attacks in different parts of the world -- Iraq, Pakistan and Kenya -- have one thing in common: they were pre-meditated terror attacks on civilians executed in a wanton manner as part of an armed jihad.
On the attack in Kenya at Nairobi's Westgate Mall, Kenya's President Uhunu Kenyatta made a clear statement: "We shall hunt down the perpetrators wherever they run to. We shall get to them and we shall punish them for this heinous crime. We have overcome terrorist attacks before. We will defeat them again. They want to cause fear and despondency in our country, but we will not be cowed." Then, referring to Somalia's al-Shabab terrorists who claimed responsibility for the assault, he added, "Terrorism is a philosophy of cowards."

Just recently I had the pleasure of eating dinner in the Armenian Quarter of the old city of Jerusalem.

Twelve years ago I had found the Armenian Tavern in the quarter and experienced one of the best meals of my life.

Then the Tavern was actually owned by Armenians.

Today I am sorry to say it is not the same.

Like in so many places in Jerusalem and Israel, Arabs have bought the Armenian Tavern. This is a stark reminder of how the Arabs are attempting to buy up Israel with Saudi oil money.

They have kept the Armenian Tavern looking the same but the atmosphere is as fake as the Arab claim to the land of Israel.

Simchat Torah is the time when Jewish children of all ages and from all denominations rejoice in celebration of a personal connection to the Torah and to their community. The festivities are often so exciting they’re recounted for months—and sometimes even years—afterwards. But for Spanish & Portuguese Jews living in England and elsewhere around the world, the story of one particular Simchat Torah celebration will be told again this year, exactly 350 years after it happened.
On Thursday night at London’s Spanish & Portuguese congregation, Bevis Marks Synagogue, the story recounted will be of renowned British diarist Samuel Pepys unexpectedly entering Congregation Shaar Hashamayim in London on Simchat Torah in 1663. Pepys’ account of his experience has become one of the most famous foundational stories in the narrative of Anglo-Jewry.

Sometimes destiny is found on the road intended to avoid it. This truth could not be better illustrated than through the serendipitous journey of the Incomparable Diamond—the world's largest, internally flawless diamond, whose journey began in the Congo over thirty years ago when it was discovered by a young girl from a discarded pile of kimberlite—an igneous by-product of diamond mining. Mr. Chairman, we have in this country one of the most corrupt institutions the world has ever known. I refer to the Federal Reserve Board and the Federal Reserve Banks. The Federal Reserve Board, a Government board, has cheated the Government of the United States and the people of the United States out of enough money to pay the national debt. The depredations and iniquities of the Federal Reserve Board has cost this country enough money to pay the national debt several times over. This evil institution has impoverished and ruined the people of the United States, has bankrupted itself, and has practically bankrupted our Government. It has done this through the defects of the law under which it operates, through the maladministration of that law by the Federal Reserve Board, and through the corrupt practices of the moneyed vultures who control it. Louis T. McFadden's Speech in the House of Representatives, 10 June 1932.

A woman, the wife of one of the prophets, called out to Elisha: “My husband, your servant, has died . . . and the creditor has come to take my two sons as slaves.”

Said Elisha to her: “. . . Tell me, what have you in your home?” And she answered: “Your maid has nothing in the house but a cruse of oil.”

Said [Elisha]: “Go, borrow vessels . . . from all your neighbors; empty vessels, only that they not be few . . . And pour [of your oil] into these vessels . . .” (II Kings 4:1–4; from the haftorah for Parshat Vayeira)
