US Campaign for Burma Announcement

Inspire Through Art

After three weeks of grueling anticipation, over 50 design submissions, and mining through hundreds of votes, we are pleased to announce the four winning designs and the artists of the Free Burma Design Contest.

Congratulations to:

Nhoo Matthews - Free Burma, with 152 votes
Lauren Perwas - Join the Ranks, with 142 votes
Julie Walden - I Stand With Burma, with 124 votes
Paul Doogan - HOPE, with 123 votes

All design submissions, including the winners, can be viewed at ourUSCB Facebook Page.

We would like to thank all the artists who participated in this contest and who inspired us and millions of others through their artwork.

The four winners of the design contest will be each receiving a cash prize of $100 and a t-shirt printed with their design. In the upcoming weeks, we will be working on reproducing the winning designs on campaign materials such as stickers, tote bags, mugs, t-shirts, and posters. You will receive an email from us when these items are ready for our Freedom Store.

We would also like to thank all of our supporters for their enthusiastic response to the design contest. To us, everyone is a winner; each design captures the spirit of unwavering resistance by the people of Burma against the military regime against tremendous odds.

Freedom does not come free in a country like Burma where scores of artists have paid a high price for daring to challenge the forces of oppression. Yet they remain defiant, continuing to create art that bear witness to the history of oppression within their lands. Through this sustained protest, artists in Burma keep the spirit of the revolution alive while sowing the seeds of freedom and democracy through their artwork.

Thank you for standing in solidarity with the brave artists of Burma and for inspiring activism through your art.

In Solidarity,

Nadi
