Eternity in comment and passing

‎"Eternity has nothing to do with time. Eternity is the dimension of here and now which thinking and time cuts out. This is it. And if you don't get it here, you won't get it anywhere."

  • You and Pru Wirth like this.
    • David Daniel Ball Campbell has great quotes like that. I particularly like the observation that all post agricultural society symbolize sacrifice within their cultural expression.

    • David Daniel Ball It is a common saying that all religions are the same. I don't agree with that, but I do accept that all religions deal with sacrifice.

    • Warwick Poulsen ‎-"all religions are the same"- what do u think people usually mean when they say that?

I think most people mean that they are unaware of the specifics but the generalities of religions are that they relate to community and individual response to the eternal and ever present. As all who live die, religion is about life and death.

I think most people feel that religion is an answer to the age old question "Where do ghosts come from."

    • David Daniel Ball The atheist response is that there are no ghosts.

    • Warwick Poulsen Well... none outside the psyche of the perceiver, anyway.

    • Donna Clarke Dreamtime - past present future all now, Joe Campbell articulates what ancient cultures indigenous peoples live and breathe everyday - he puts it across so the soul divided western psychologically based culture can have an inkling about what they gave up for capitalism, and continue to destroy and then wish about by going on pilgrimages and think they got it bringing back an artifact to hang or sit in their house and say to themselves I know what it is, you don't and in the end do you really care, I reckon not

    • Robert Morgan All the desert religions are certainly the same. "The only church that illuminates is one that is burning".

    • David Daniel Ball I think there are ghosts. I think that atheists see them too. Both from the filter of the psyche and in natural day to day experience. The reason why the ALP federal government refuse to embrace a nuclear future for power generation is the Ghost of their decisions past. Ghosts keep old friends from embracing in greeting, and old friends from letting go ..
