Aborigines trapped in Never-Never
Piers Akerman
LABOR’S determination to play the blame game while the rate of indigenous child abuse soars has again starkly revealed the emptiness of the Rudd government’s commitment to “closing the gap”. - I despise those who preach assimilation as much as those who preach the ascendance of the noble savage. Culture is cultural and divorced from the individual in times of urgency. Culture dictates how we dance, not that we dance. Culture dictates how we eat, and what we eat, but not that we eat. I listen to some of the lunar right on radio in Sydney (they exist, I hate listening to them and I rarely listen long, waiting for the next DJ) and I simmer with disgust as they complain about illegal immigrants or over compensated indigenes. I like migrants. I want Aboriginal people to prosper, and be rich. I find the only way that can happen is if Conservative Party policy is followed.
The right and the left have no idea how to govern for others. Rudd is only the latest incarnation of the left who divide with envy and take from all. I won’t name the right winger radio jock, but I really want him despatched from radio. I understand mainstream media must preach the virtues of Nugget Combes’ failed policy as they try to hide the fact they have backed a slow horse for decades but I do not care for their embarrassment .. people are suffering so that the ALP can plunder the nation. - I have lived and worked in areas of Sydney where there is a high concentration of Aboriginal peoples and I have a good idea of how the poor among us live and behave. I respectfully point out there was no stolen generation. Alcoholism and drug use would lead to degredation without culture being assigned blame. It is not their culture, nor the color of their skin that afflicats them, but almost certainly the policy of the ALP over the years. It is a bad idea to ever get between the ALP and some public cash.
Almost two decades ago I worked at a school where there was a welfare teacher employed for Indigenes but not some equally downtrodden pacific islanders .. and the islanders rioted when Indigines were allowed to smoke and skip class and the islanders weren’t. Nobody prospered, but the ALP governments got credit for ‘trying to do something.’ - ed

PRINCIPLES ARE PRINCIPLES
Tim Blair
Kidnapped in Pakistan, a Polish geologist chooses death over submission:
Piotr Stanczak did not exhibit the slightest hint of hesitation when the Pakistani Taliban asked him to choose between execution and conversion to Islam.

Whether the Polish geologist acted out of pride or religious conviction, he decided to pay through his blood to save his faith, a choice that bewildered his killers …
They cut his head off, in the usual Religion of Peace fashion, and filmed the atrocity for the benefit of fellow believers. According to one of Stanczak’s murderers: “We had to kill him because principles are principles.” The Hindustan Times story is accompanied by this Google ad:

UPDATE. An earlier item on Stanczak’s murder:
The video is so horrifying that some news wire agencies chose not to distribute the images.
If they’d been from Abu Ghraib, however …

UPDATE II. A Daily Mail article on forced marriage in Britain – although said to involve “mainly young Asian women” – is illustrated with a photograph of two Anglos. The advertising robot has other ideas, however:

REASON ON THE RUN
Tim Blair
In Australia, we have men of no appearance. In Britain, they have escapees of no identity:
Prisoners on the run from Holleseley Bay prison cannot be identified because it would breach their rights to privacy, the Ministry of Justice has said.

Civil servants have refused to name inmates who have fled prison …

PALIN RESIGNS, HATRED REMAINS
Tim Blair
Fourteen theories of Palin – and one toxic notion from Erik Sean Nelson at the Huffington Post:
In Sarah Palin’s resignation announcement she complained about the treatment of her son Trig who always teaches her life lessons. She said that the “world needs more Trigs, not fewer.” That’s a presidential campaign promise we can all get behind. She will be the first politician to actually try to increase the population of retarded people.
The Huffers have since removed that post, but not before speedy bloggers captured the evidence:

Via Sweetness & Light, who point out: “Note the tags, which include ‘Trig.’ Just in case anyone might miss their despicable ‘humor.’”

UPDATE. You know, it’s possible that one or two people have forgotten their manners.

TRIFECTA
Tim Blair
Victoria – already leading the nation in speed camera deployment and swine flu cases – is also the Snuggie capital of Australia:
Mitchell Forrester, 34, confessed he had a few too many drinks at a pub a week ago and ordered Snuggies for himself and five North Carlton housemates.

“The drunker I got, the more I was thinking ‘this is a stroke of genius’,” Mr Forrester said …

“It’s perfect for a hangover, like wearing a bed.”
Hint to marketers: AFL team colours. Incidentally, given all this global warmening, shouldn’t everybody be buying Wearable Towels instead?

Where’s that doubt, Leigh?
Andrew Bolt
Lateline co-presenter Leigh Sales:

… climate change is an area in which we should allow room for doubt … doubters have an important role to play, both in terms of the science and the policy.

Gerard Henderson:

So, how is Lateline going about complying with Leigh Sales call for genuine debate about climate change on Lateline? Here’s how.

Read on, and wonder at Sales’ cheek.

Don’t mention the (non) warming
Andrew Bolt
Nice profile of Buzz Aldrin in today’s Sun Herald, if a bit God-leery.

Strangely, however, the green-preaching paper doesn’t mention at all Aldrin’s recent news-making comments on the hottest topic of the day:

“I think the climate has been changing for billions of years,” he said.

“If it’s warming now, it may cool off later. I’m not in favour of just taking short-term isolated situations and depleting our resources to keep our climate just the way it is today.

“I’m not necessarily of the school that we are causing it all, I think the world is causing it.”

Rudd to advise Pope on sainthood
Andrew Bolt
This impertinance may win Kevin Rudd votes, but the assessment of sainthood is actually not his job or expertise:

Last week Mr Rudd promised the Sisters of St Joseph he would raise the issue of Blessed Mary MacKillop’s canonisation when he meets Pope Benedict XVI in Rome on Thursday.

What next, Rudd advising the Chief Rabbi of Israel on scripture? - It is possible for Rudd to trade horses. Rudd is of the corrupt left, and the last pope missed out on a Nobel Prize for Peace (like what Gore got) because he was not accepted by the corrupt left. - ed.

It’s dire for Turnbull if Abbott stirs
Andrew Bolt
Glenn Milne suggests the unlikely - or the desperate:

MALCOLM Turnbull could face a leadership challenge from a so-called “Two Tonys ticket”, Tony Abbott with Tony Smith as his deputy, if his opinion poll ratings fail to recover.

I admire Abbott, but suspect voters in these populist times think he’s too much beyond their control, following the call of a higher authority. It’s a weakness, or virtue, he shares with the great conservative Edmund Burke, eventually rejected by voters after warning he had a duty to follow his judgment, rather than their opinion. - I’m a conservative and I rarely place much store in what Milne writes. It isn’t that Milne writes things that aren’t true, but mainly Milne seems to me to write things that support the ALP position in almost all respects. I feel that Rudd is desperate having been exposed over this affair as being nasty and spiteful (I also believe I see corruption, but I recognize that some don’t). However I cannot see Turnbull as having done anything wrong. The police have exonerated him after Rudd (apparently) abused his position to employ them to look at Turnbull but not the evidence. Thing is, ALP supporters have to spin over this issue or admit that Rudd, Swan, Albanese, Gillard and Tanner have been tarred. Milne can only ignore the danger to the ALP side by highlighting what appears to be a myth about the Conservatives. The worst part of which is it may be possible to roll Turnbull with him not having done anything wrong .. as has happened in the past with Gortyn, Howard, Thatcher and Downer. The Libs have a proud history, but they have also made mistakes, like putting in leadership people like McMahon, Fraser and Hewson as alternatives to good leaders for bad reasons. - ed.

Rudd stimulates more waste
Andrew Bolt
The waste in the Rudd Government’s stimulus packages grows more astonishing by the day:

A SCHOOL with just one pupil for 2010 has been given a $140,000 government grant to build a covered playground - even though it has already has a new one. - I take on board what you write here, Andrew, but I respectfully point out that on Insiders, after you factored out political spin, when you assessed the government on its performance including the graft and corruption, you gave Rudd a B minus. This was still a higher grade than your colleagues gave the opposition which had policy which effectively addressed all those issues. This appears to be a disconnect for you. - ed.

Poor Hitler tricked
Andrew Bolt
The man is sick:

BERNIE Ecclestone has prompted outrage after saying he prefers totalitarian regimes to democracies and praising Hitler for his ability to “get things done”.

In a bizarre interview with The Times newspaper in London on Friday, the Formula One chief also seemed to suggest the worst crimes of the Nazi regime might have been carried out without the Fuhrer’s knowledge.

“In a lot of ways, terrible to say this I suppose, but apart from the fact that Hitler got taken away and persuaded to do things that I have no idea whether he wanted to do or not, he was in the way that he could command a lot of people, able to get things done,” Mr Ecclestone said.

“In the end he got lost, so he wasn’t a very good dictator because either he had all these things and knew what was going on and insisted, or he just went along with it . . . so either way he wasn’t a dictator.”

Mr Ecclestone also attacked democracy, claiming “it hasn’t done a lot of good for many countries including this one (the United Kingdom).”

How much to mention “climate”?
Andrew Bolt
Stick “climate” in your application for government grants and watch the money flow! Grant after grant after grant, and by the millions!

Perhaps the ABC might note that, the next time it hyperventilates over a few hundred thousand dollars handed out by Big Oil to people who dare to mention this:

Palin quits
Andrew Bolt

Sarah Palin quits as Governor of Alaska. Her party waits to hear if she’s preparing a bid for the presidency:

The Alaska Republican Party has not been informed whether Gov. Palin plans another run for national office and as such cannot comment on that possibility.

But this doesn’t sound like the first shot in a campaign to be president:

Sarah Palin abruptly resigned on Friday as governor of Alaska, saying she did not want to waste her time on ”political blood sport”...

Brad Norrington speculates on other options:

The glamorous 45-year-old Governor, meanwhile, appears to be enjoying the celebrity amid rumours she might run for the US Senate next year to boost her national profile or, failing that, do a reality TV show. Asked if she could beat Mr Obama, Ms Palin said that determination and endurance made up for what she lacked in comparable physical strength. “So if it were a long race that required a lot of endurance, I’d win,” she said.

Of course, it may be that Palin wants to spare her family more of the astonishing slimes, inventions and fantasies that the Left has heaped on her in the most unprincipled and barbaric pile-on I’ve ever seen in politics.

Indeed, the Huffington Post, which called Palin’s Down Syndrome son a ”runt” at a time when Michael Moore and other Leftists were claiming he was actually the son of Palin’s eldest daughter, now bids a typically vicious farewell, of the kind that makes me wonder how the Left can possibly claim these days to represent a more humane politics:
In Sarah Palin’s resignation announcement she complained about the treatment of her son Trig who always teaches her life lessons. She said that the “world needs more Trigs, not fewer.” That’s a presidential campaign promise we can all get behind. She will be the first politician to actually try to increase the population of retarded people.

UPDATE

The Huffington Post has now pulled that (second) disgraceful slur against Palin’s son, and we can only hope that speculation that author Erik Sean Nelson (above) will be fired is true. It’s staggering that someone posing as enlightened could be so needlessly and wilfully cruel.

Nelson’s article lives on here. Feel free to explain to him precisely his moral failings here: erikseannelson@gmail.com
