Reba Meagher abused the trust of her voters. She wouldn't live in the area. She wouldn't help those who needed her ear as their champion in parliament .. unless they were useful pawns of the ALP. The upcoming election holds a possibility of change. But the committed ALP supporters of the area have to embrace that change if they want things to get better.
Dai Le is a former ABC journalist. She has experience in covering the issues which concern locals. She not only listens, she can be relied on to act on behalf of everyone in the community.
Unlike the current government, which seems to view Cabramatta as a milk cow to be stripped and its resources given to 'swinging' electorates, Dai is working to
- improve our local services such as more parking spaces, frequent and faster public transport,
- demand resources to improve our education facilities and community services such as child care and aged care;
- create a better profile for the Cabramatta electorate in the media and the wider community - promoting it as a tourist destination
- benefit all members of the community
So make this election count and send a message to Labor that this community no longer wants to be ignored!
Dai is a symbol of the Australian dream.
ReplyDeleteDai fled Vietnam with her mother and two sisters during the fall of Saigon in 1975. They waited for their father in a refugee camp in the Philippines for four years - but he never made it.
Her mother bundled them onto a boat again for another escape attempt. After 10 days at sea they were picked up by a Hong Kong patrol boat and taken to another refugee camp.
Dai Le’s mother then decided to bring her daughters to “an Island with a good education” to start a new life and put the nightmare of the Vietnam War behind them.
Dai and her family first settled in Wollongong where there were few Vietnamese. She was 11 years old and had to learn English quickly to blend in with her community. She eventually graduated with the HSC, studied law at the University of Sydney for awhile but eventually moved into a career in Journalism.
Dai is now an acclaimed Journalist with the ABC Radio National’s Social and History Unit where she produces radio documentaries. Dai became a Journalist so that she could be the voice for people who had no voice and share their stories. Dai is running for Parliament so that she can continue to be the voice for those people in our community of Cabramatta.
Dai grew up here in Cabramatta, it’s where she began her career as a Journalist and it’s a place where she feels deeply connected to and closely identifies with.
She now wants to be the VOICE for this amazing community and to represent the people living here. Cabramatta didn’t matter to Reba or Labor but it matters to Dai Le, start the CHANGE Cabramatta needs by supporting Dai Le on October the 18th 2008.
