Well, this was meant to be a french synth pop song. And looks like it is not...

It's been a while since i wrote a song. Took me 6 months. But i think this is a huge thinking about human condition, and how it is hard to manage this in a postmodern way (especially when the breakfast eggs are served with the sunny side down). The song title is in Swahili, and the lyrics are in french. So profound i cant translate.

Lullaby of Birdland" is a 1952 popular song. The title refers to Charlie "Bird" Parker and the Birdland jazz club named after him. The song has been recorded by many talented vocal and instrumental performers, including Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Mel Torme,the Italian singer Mina and now Grathy, in our first collab on IC 4.

I'm Still Here

This is another version of the song 'Still Here'

'Still Here' was originally written in 1995 and recorded using a load of outboard midi gear like EMU samplers and Yamaha tone modules.

It's hard to know what genre to place a Sonic Magpie track under--so often we combine styles and dodge 'the norm.'


This track has moved to a different place, though I'm not sure which genre, specifically...

When Bryn posted "Still Here," he invited me to add to it. So, one Saturday I sat down to record vocals just to see what came of it.

I initially recorded the chorus vox using the words "Still here" that was the song's title. But as I finished my recording of the chorus, I 'heard' a lead voice--something not at all like my own voice: a male voice, and something more in the style of Bowie. Since I wanted to represent what else I was hearing for Bryn, I decided I'd simply improvise a melody line and words....just whatever came to mind.

One take later, I had a suggested vocal line--again not at all expecting it to be more than a guide track for another singer. Guess again...

Bryn spiffed up that lead vocal and blended it with the backing vocals, rebuilding the main instrumental from the bottom up and creating the track posted here.

Once again, I'm one lucky magpie to be working with ya, Bryn!

I love how you've incorporated my vocals into this track.
