Tolls up 'no April Fools joke'

IT is no April Fool's joke that tolls on three major Sydney roadways will go up today, the NSW Opposition said.

Coalition roads spokesman Duncan Gay said the State Government was to blame for the toll hikes on the Eastern Distributor, the Cross City Tunnel and the Lane Cove Tunnel.

"Don't blame the companies which own these roads who have a responsibility to their shareholders, blame (Premier) Morris Iemma and his mob who put these contracts in place," Mr Gay said.

"The Iemma Labor Government simply cannot manage major infrastructure projects."

The Eastern Distributor toll rises by 50 cents today to $5.

The Cross City Tunnel toll rises by 46 cents to $3.96, while the Lane Cove Tunnel toll rises two cents to $2.62.
