Hezbollah? Or, as the ABC suggests, is this just Lebanese children at play?

An independent inquiry into RailCorp’s handling of allegations that a Transit Officer harassed a 15 year old girl was essential if commuter confidence was to be maintained, Shadow Minister for Transport Barry O’Farrell said today.
“The public need to be assured that RailCorp is dealing with any allegation of harassment, or misconduct in a timely and transparent manner,” Mr O’Farrell said.
“The delay in investigating and taking action in this case is unacceptable,” he said.
ReplyDelete“Harassment of passengers by RailCorp employees has no place on the rail network.
“Where allegations against staff are of a serious sexual nature, those employees should be stood down pending a timely and independent investigation.
“Internal investigations into such serious issues are simply not good enough.
“Sexual harassment or harassment of any kind is a serious issue and it’s made worse when the person involved is in a position of authority.
“Only an independent investigation into RailCorp’s handling of this matter, and a review of the way complaints against Transit Officers are dealt with, will restore confidence in the system.”
Mr O’Farrell said Transit Officers had significant authority over train travellers and commuters deserved a more responsive and transparent complaints system.
“Most city MPs have had cause to raise concerns about the way some Transit Officers behave,” Mr O’Farrell said.
“Currently there is no open and accountable system that demonstrates these concerns and complaints are treated appropriately.
“Commuters and taxpayers alike deserve higher standards from their Government services,” Mr O’Farrell said.
